My journey
I’m Amy, and I’d like to invite you on a very special culinary journey. I’m originally from China but have been living in beautiful Switzerland for over 20 years. This unique blend of Eastern and Western culture is reflected not only in my identity, but also in my cooking.
The name ĀN OTHER
People often assume our name is simply a variation of another. In fact, there is a deeper meaning: the name ĀN (安) comes from Chinese and means safety, peace, and security. That is exactly what we want to offer people who depend on a gluten-free diet.
Our kitchen is meant not only to taste good, but also to give you a sense of safety – free from gluten, prepared with great care, and using ingredients you can trust.
Why I started cooking gluten-free
My husband has been living with coeliac disease for over three decades – a challenge that has strongly influenced our culinary adventures, especially when travelling in China. In China, awareness of gluten is still not very widespread, which makes it difficult to find suitable food.
Here in Switzerland, I have also noticed that while some Asian restaurants offer gluten-free options, there is often a lack of deep understanding of what truly gluten-free means.
From hobby cook to expert
These experiences inspired me to develop my own concept. My training as a nutritionist and my knowledge of gastronomy formed the foundation of the product development.
With me, every bite is safely gluten-free and carefully prepared. I firmly believe that almost all Chinese dishes can be made gluten-free – with the right ingredients and meticulous preparation. My drive is to make these delicious, authentically gluten-free dishes accessible to a wider audience. I warmly invite you to discover the rich, diverse flavors of my homeland – with no worries, just enjoyment.
Our head chef: Ma Ngok Chau
Ngok Chau brings over 35 years of experience from top Asian and European kitchens – including award-winning Zurich restaurants such as Hongxi (14 Gault Millau points) and his own restaurant Dragon Inn.
His passion? Authentic flavours, meticulous craftsmanship and combining tradition with creative lightness. When he’s not testing new recipes or running dim sum workshops, you’ll probably find him baking bread or tending to his aquarium.
With us, Ngok Chau gives every dumpling a personal touch – handmade, with great dedication and always a little bit of magic.
