My journey

My name is Amy, and I'd like to invite you on a very special culinary journey. I'm originally from China, but I've lived in beautiful Switzerland for over 20 years. This unique blend of Eastern and Western culture is reflected not only in my identity but also in my cuisine.

The name ĀN OTHER

It's often assumed that our name is simply a variant of " another ." In fact, there's something deeper behind it: The name ĀN (安) comes from Chinese and means safety, peace, and security . This is precisely what we want to offer people who rely on a gluten-free diet.

Our cuisine should not only taste good, but also give you a feeling of security – gluten-free, made with care, and with ingredients you can trust.

Why I started cooking gluten-free

My husband has lived with celiac disease for over three decades—a challenge that has greatly impacted our culinary adventures, especially while traveling in China. Gluten awareness is still not widespread in China, making it difficult to find suitable foods.

Here in Switzerland, I've also noticed that while some Asian restaurants offer gluten-free options, they often lack a deep understanding of what truly gluten-free is.

From hobby cook to expert

These experiences inspired me to develop my own concept. My training as a nutritionist and my knowledge of the restaurant industry formed the foundation for product development.

Every bite I serve is safely gluten-free and carefully prepared. I firmly believe that almost all Chinese dishes can be made gluten-free – with the right ingredients and meticulous preparation. My drive is to make these delicious, authentic gluten-free dishes accessible to a wider audience. I warmly invite you to discover the rich, diverse flavors of my homeland – without worry, only with enjoyment.

Our chef: Ma Ngok Chau

Ngok Chau brings with him over 35 years of experience in Asian and European haute cuisine – including from award-winning Zurich restaurants such as Hongxi (14 Gault Millau points) and his own restaurant, Dragon Inn .

His passion? Authentic flavors, artisan craftsmanship, and the combination of tradition with creative ease. When he's not testing new recipes or teaching dim sum workshops, you'll probably find him baking bread or working at the aquarium.

At Ngok Chau, we give each dumpling a personal touch – handmade, with lots of dedication, and always a little bit of magic.
